Portland man killed in single car accident

A 28-year-old man was killed Thursday morning in a single car accident in the Parkrose area of Portland.

John Gregory Gallucci was driving his Subaru SVX sports car southbound on NE 102nd at Burnside when he apparently lost control of the vehicle and ran into a utility pole on the northeast corner of the intersection.

It was not clear whether drugs or alcohol played a part in the accident. a toxicology report has been ordered, but the results will likely not be available until Friday afternoon.

A representative for the Gallucci family told the Oregonian that John was a network administrator for a clinical trial company in Portland. He was also an amateur writer who appeared on local cable-access shows and hosted a website that showcased his writing. According to the Gallucci's, he was known to many friends simply as "Gooch."

Police were called to the scene at about 4 a.m. on a report of an accident at the intersection.
